Raintree Setters
About Us

My first encounter with the breed came in about 1977 when my Father took me to the animal shelter to find a pet for my family, as we walked up and down the aisles I had tears in my eyes wanting to take each and every dog home.  We came across this little spotted girl and my dad said now this is a nice dog, I gave alittle laugh and then said what is she...an Irish setter and Springer mix? He said no daughter, it is an English Setter!!! The nice man from the shelter took her out and I spoke to her and the man let her loose in the encloser, I called out "Duchess" (the name of my 1st Irish setter at age 4) and she came running to me as if to say "I AM YOURS"!!! and she was, my first precious girl that had no past for me to reflect on only the future which was ours to make.

From that day on I was hooked and from that time on we have always had an English Setter (along with either a Gordon Setter or a Newfoundland and now an Irish Setter). Along the way we have had many Champions and a few Junior Hunters, met alot of people and made many life-long friends .

When I was considering breeding my lovely bitch "Angel" (CH Santan Heaven Only Knows) I started thinking of a fitting kennel name, I saw an old MGM movie staring Elizabeth Talylor & Montgomery Cliff called Raintree County; even though the movie was poor they talked of the shade of the Raintree and from then on I had our name.  Our first litter did not come from my precious Angel but came from my lovely girl named "Chelsea" (Random Winds Dancin in my Dreams) by our handsom boy "Lance" (CH Crossroads Lynnin & Gold) in 1997.  That breeding produced my first home born Champion "Rocky", Am Int'l CH Raintree You Only Live Twice and his sister "Penny" Raintree Diamonds are Forever.

We added a Gordon Setter "Rush"  Trilogy Dude Goes West,  back in 1999 then "Teak" Am Int'l CH Seacac Who's Your Daddy came along in 2001.  We lost Rush at a very young age and we knew we would eventually get another Gordon and so it happened, 2007 brought us "Kona" Am Int'l CH Amberlove Double Espresso.

Scott and I met back in 1992 and he jumped right in learning how to be the best kennel help ever and will drive at any time day or night to get  us to a show on time.  We belong to several Dog clubs,  Inland Empire English Setter Club (IEESC) , and the parent club English Setter Association of America (ESSA) along with the Gordon Setter Club and the Irish Setter Club of So Calif.
